30 January 2023 – Blessed is the pure of heart

Matthew 5:8 (NLT) God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.

God is most concerned with our hearts and what we truly desire for our lives.

Psalm 24:3-5 (NKJV) Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Psalm 119:9 (NKJV) How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.

God’s Word is the instruction manual to keep your heart pure all your life. It is not complicated to begin living a pure life.

Psalm 119:9-16 (AMP) How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to Your precepts]. With all my heart I have sought You, [inquiring of You and longing for You]; Do not let me wander from Your commandments [neither through ignorance nor by willful disobedience]. Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You. Blessed and reverently praised are You, O LORD; Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts And [thoughtfully] regard Your ways [the path of life established by Your precepts]. I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
How can a young man cleanse his way? By the same means, all believers do—by accepting God’s Word and letting it continue to do its work in us.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 (ESV) And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

If we delight in God’s Word, study it, reflect on it, and meditate on it day and night, we will keep our lives pure through obedience.

2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Psalm 1:2 (ESV) but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

I conclude with Matthew 5:8 (MSG) “You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.”
