Sing to the Lord a new song
Psalm 96:1(NLT) Sing a new song to the LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!
New means: original, fresh, one of a kind, and never-seen-before. Or in this case: never-heard-before. God is always doing something new like saving, answering prayers, and working miracles. Because God is constantly doing something new, we are encouraged to sing a new song to God, thanking Him for the new things He has done in our lives.
Isaiah 43:18-19(ESV) “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 42:9-10(ESV) Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants.
Psalms 98:1(ESV) Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
Psalms 40:3(ESV) He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
Lamentations 3:22-23(NLT) The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Throughout the earth and before the throne of God in heaven, we can hear the redeemed singing a new song to the Lord.
Revelation 5:9(NLT) And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
