4 January 2022 – This new year spend more time with family

You might think highly successful people are workaholics who get no sleep and never have time for their family and friends. However, successful people typically know that having a work-life balance is important.

How balanced do you feel with your family time? What’s your relationship like with your spouse? Your kids? How about your parents and extended family members? Family ties are the tightest relationships you should have in your life no matter how busy things get at work.

“Too much of one thing can end up creating stress; this is something that no one needs in their life. But living a life in balance can provide harmony and peace.” Catherine Pulsifer,
Joshua 24:15b (NLT) “But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

Family is one of the very best and most important things in life. Proverbs 3:6 says, “In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” God First, Family second, and everything else in life fills in the blanks.

1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV) “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Psalm 127:3 (NIV) Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.

“In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.” – Friedrich Nietzche

Family dynamics significantly impact health in both positive and negative ways. Having a close-knit and supportive family provides emotional support, economic well-being, and increases overall health. However, the opposite is also true. When family life is characterised by stress and conflict, the health of family members tends to be negatively affected.

Research suggests that working together as a family unit to achieve shared goals is beneficial for kids and adults alike. It helps all family members feel valued for contributing and taking on responsibilities. Sharing time and resources also reinforces the important value of taking good care of oneself and others. What better time to do this now, at the beginning of the year? As a family set goals that will focus on, Time together with God, Putting God First, family time, mastering new skills, personal, financial, health, leisure time, community, church and career/ school.

For years now, we as a family have always at the beginning of the year set goals based on these areas with amazing results. The aim here is to create a balanced life, making sure that every area of your family life is carefully planned and mapped out.

Proverbs 22:6 (ESV) “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. “

Ephesians 6:1-4 (MSG) 1-3 Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. “Honour your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, “so you will live well and have a long life.” 4 Fathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.
