According to the Oxford Dictionary, success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
How does the Bible define success?
Joshua 1:8(NKJV) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
- Speak the Word: the Word of God shall not depart from your mouth
- Think about the Word: but you shall meditate in it day and night
- Act on the Word: you may observe to do according to all written in it
- Be successful: for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success
Joshua 1:8-9(MSG) Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed
Deuteronomy 8:18(ESV) You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.
“I’d rather attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed.” – Robert H Schuller
“If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek His grace.” – Max Lucado
“Many Christians estimate difficulties in the light of their own resources, and thus attempt little and often fail in the little they attempt. All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on His power and presence with them.” – Hudson Taylor
Looking at the meanings of success, I concluded there are two key principles to success: Put God first and, know what you want – clarity.
