4 November 2023 – Seek after the Lord

Prayer
In the Old Testament and New Testament, the word for seek means: to seek the face of God, to desire, examine or explore, to seek earnestly, diligently search for, to wish for, to crave, investigate and to pursue.

Prayer is passion to seek and know God. Only God can touch your hearts and give you the desire to seek and to know Him, and to want His will, plans and ways above your own.

Jeremiah 24:7(NIV) I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

Philippians 2:13(NIV) “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

The number one way for you to seek after the Lord is in your own personal private prayer life with Him. Prayer is our greatest Christian privilege but – we may as well admit – also our greatest Christian failure. All of us need to learn to pray more and pray better. Prayer is vital to the Christian life. If we’re going to impact our families, our nation, and our world in these critical days, prayer is where it begins.

Psalm 5:3a(ESV) O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice;

Psalm 51:10-12(NIV) Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

You cannot have a personal relationship with someone you aren’t willing to communicate with.

Psalm 119:18(NIV) Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

When we pray, we talk to God. When we read the Bible, God talks to us. When pursuing God, we need to do both – talk to God, and listen to God when He speaks.

“Do not make prayer a monologue…make it a conversation.” – Author Unknown

Luke 11:9(NKJV) “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

“Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night.” – George Herbert

1 Chronicles 16:11(ESV) Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!

The only way to pray is to pray. The best way to best pray is to pray. Arise and pray.
