5 July 2022 – Whatever is true – think about such things

Philippians 4:8 (NIV) ”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

The mind is the starting point for any behaviour. When the Devil wants to entice you with negativity, he starts in the mind. He speaks lies and condemnation until he gets the emotional response that he is looking for. He wants you to believe that you are not going to make it, there is no hope, everything and everyone is turning against you. Paul gives us a way to beat Satan at his own game. Instead of waiting for Satan, the world, or your own brokenness, feed your mind with good things, positive things, godly things. Be present with God in this moment.

John 17:17 (NASB)“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”

To remain spiritually stable, we must stand on the truth and we must do that every day. We must begin our day in the Word of Truth. If you are too busy for the Word in the morning, you are too busy! Keep it simple. Take a few minutes, read the Word of God and meditate on it.

1 Peter 2:2 (NASB) “like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,”

Philippians 2:16 (NASB) “holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.”

Whatever God says on any given subject is true! It speaks of what is valid, reliable, and honest. Whatever is true means reading, memorising, and meditating on the Word of God.

John 8:32 (NIV) “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Negative thoughts do not come from God. God is truth. If your thoughts lead you to feel like a victim instead of a victor, it is not from God.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV) “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I conclude with Proverbs 4:23 (TPT) “So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.”
