This year make the best of your work

Colossians 3:23 (ESV) “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”

From the beginning, God instituted work. Genesis 2:15 “Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

Thessalonians 3:10 (NIV) “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

Ephesians 2:10 (NCV) “God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing”

There are three things you can do with your life: You can waste it, you can spend it, or you can invest it.

Romans 6:13b (TLB) Give yourselves completely to God — every part of you … you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for his good purposes”

What is our responsibility when it comes to our work? We must work as if we are working for the Lord. We must work hard.

“Work becomes worship when you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of his presence.” Rick Warren

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NLT) “Whatever you do, do well.”

Proverbs 18:9 (NLT) “A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things.”

Romans 12:11. (TLB) “Never be lazy in your work but serve the Lord enthusiastically.”

“Work is as much a basic human need as food, beauty, rest, friendship, prayer, and sexuality; it is not simply medicine but food for our soul. Without meaningful work we sense significant inner loss and emptiness. People who are cut off from work because of physical or other reasons quickly discover how much they need work to thrive emotionally, physically, and spiritually.” Timothy Keller

God uses the work that we do to shape us and form our hearts. He uses the work to mature us.

This year I want to challenge you to make an impact at your workplace. Make it part of your new year’s goals.

“Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all.” Sam Ewing

Through hard work, perseverance, and a faith in God, you can live your dreams. Ben Carson
