God is always there for you
In this Psalm, three specific struggles of David stand out for me: God’s timing, his weariness, and his tears.
David questions the Lord’s timing
Psalm 6:3(AMP) My soul [as well as my body] is greatly dismayed. But as for You, O LORD – how long [until You act on my behalf]?
How often do we question God’s timing? We can easily become impatient, not waiting for God’s perfect timing.
“God is never late and rarely early. He is always exactly right on time–His time.” ― Dillon Burroughs
David expresses his weariness and his persistence in prayer
Psalm 6:4(AMP) Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your [unfailing] steadfast love and mercy.
Though we all become tired and weary at times, the Bible reassures us in Isaiah 40:31(KJV) But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
David vividly describes the physical manifestation of his inner turmoil – his tears
Psalm 6:6(AMP) I am weary with my groaning; Every night I soak my bed with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping.
Lastly, David knew his only refuge was in the Lord
Psalm 6:8-9(TLB) Go, leave me now, you men of evil deeds, for the Lord has heard my weeping and my pleading. He will answer all my prayers.
Today, regardless of how you feel or what your circumstances may be, Psalm 55:22a(TLB) declares: Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them.
