Isaiah 11:2 “And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him”
The Spirit of the Lord gives you boldness. He puts you in charge of situations. We read in the Bible of men of God upon whom the Spirit of the Lord was. That was the Spirit of Lordship in operation.
Spirit of the Lord – The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. The phrase “upon me” refers to your personal relationship with the Lord and experiencing His manifest presence in your life.
The operations of the Spirit of the Lord
1 Corinthians 4:20 (NIV) “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power”
1 Corinthians 2:4 (NKJV) “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”
John 3:34 (NKJV) “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.”
Luke 4:18 (VOICE) “The Spirit of the Lord the Eternal One is on Me. Why? Because the Eternal designated Me to be His representative to the poor, to preach good news to them.”
2 Corinthians 3:17(NIV) “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”
Romans 8:9 (ESV) “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.”
1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV) “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”
Yield your spirit to the Holy Spirit, be filled with it and take advantage of the comfort, the power that God makes available to us.
John 16:12-13 (ESV) “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
Luke 4:14-21 (NRSB) “Then Jesus, filled with the power of the Spirit…unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
What are the results or the Spirit of the Lord upon us? The poor receive Good News. The captives are released. The blind see. The oppressed are set free.
