6 October 2021 – Speaking the blessing

Proverbs 16:24 (NLT) “Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”

Proverbs 18:21 NKJV) “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV) “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.”

A spoken blessing is a positive, Biblical statement that invokes the blessing of God in the life of another.

A spoken blessing does good to those who hear it. To bless means “to speak well” to bless (thank or invoke a benediction upon, prosper).” When you bless others, you direct God’s goodness to them.

Blessings recorded in the Bible

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP) “The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favour], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]; The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].”

3 John 2-3 (AMP) “Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]. 3 For I was greatly pleased when [some of the] brothers came [from time to time] and testified to your [faithfulness to the] truth [of the gospel message], that is, how you are walking in truth.”

As you speak these words in prayer or speak them directly to the person for whom they are written, you will invoke the power, grace, and blessing of God upon him. You also could write out the blessing and mail it or take it to the person for whom you are interceding; God could use it as a great source of encouragement in their life.
