Psalm 118:8 (ESV) “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
Psalm 118:8-9 (ESV) “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.”
1 Corinthians 2:5 (ESV) “That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”
Isaiah 2:22 (NLT) “Don’t put your trust in mere humans.”
Isaiah 40:31 declares “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They (who hope in the Lord) will soar on the wings like eagles, they (who hope in the Lord) will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. “
Eagles don’t expend much energy as they soar to great heights. With outstretched wings they use the wind to carry them to high places.
You may have been soaring along like an eagle when you were dealt a blow of circumstance that caught you off guard and sent you plummeting to the ground. Rejoice, like the eagle use the wind to carry them, God is the source of your strength. In Him, you have what it takes to reach those high places again!
Why should be put our hope in God versus Man?
God cannot change but man can. – Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever”
Man can lie, but God cannot lie – Numbers 23:19 (NIV) – God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
Man can fail but God cannot fail – Romans 4: 21 (NIV) – And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
God is faithfull, man not. – Hebrews 11: 11 – (NIV) Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
God cannot forget his promise, man can easily forget. – Isaiah 49:15-16 (NIV) “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! 16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. Today, find strength by simply putting your hope in God.”
