Trust In The Lord

Proverbs 3 emphasises trusting in God, seeking His wisdom, and living a life of integrity. It encourages us to lean not on our own understanding but to trust the Lord in all things. Obeying God’s commands leads to peace, prosperity, and favour. The chapter highlights the value of wisdom, which brings long life, honour, and guidance. It also warns against pride and selfishness, urging generosity and humility, which bring blessings and protection from God.

Proverbs 3:5-7 (NIV) emphasises the necessity of trusting God: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.” This passage teaches that true wisdom begins with humility and submission to God rather than self-reliance. By seeking His guidance and living according to His truth, we invite His direction in every aspect of our lives, resulting in peace, purpose, and alignment with His divine plans.

How Do We Put Our Trust In The Lord?
In a world filled with uncertainties and challenges, learning to trust in the Lord becomes essential for navigating life with confidence and peace.

Fully Depend on Him
Proverbs 3:5 (MSG) encourages us: “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.” This verse highlights the importance of complete reliance on God rather than our limited understanding. In moments of uncertainty or difficulty, surrendering our need for control allows God to guide us with His infinite wisdom.

Seek God
In Proverbs 3:6 (MSG), we read, “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” This verse reminds us to actively seek God’s presence in every aspect of our lives. By tuning our hearts to His voice, we align our decisions with His purpose, ensuring we stay on the path He has laid out for us.

Run from Evil
Proverbs 3:7 (MSG) admonishes, “Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!” This verse highlights the importance of humility and the need to seek God’s guidance rather than relying on our own wisdom. Turning away from evil not only protects us spiritually but also enhances our overall well-being.

Put God First
Proverbs 3:9-10 (MSG) states, “Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.” By prioritising God in our finances and giving Him our first fruits, we express our trust in His provision. This act of faith reveals our commitment to putting Him first in all aspects of our lives.

Follow God’s Instructions
Proverbs 3:11-12 (AMP) encourages us: “My son, do not reject or take lightly the discipline of the Lord; nor despise His rebuke. For those whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.” Accepting God’s correction as an expression of His love fosters our growth and maturity. Embracing His guidance helps us to learn from our mistakes and aligns us more closely with His will.

Find Wisdom, Be Led by God
Proverbs 3:13 (AMP) proclaims, “Happy [blessed, considered fortunate, to be admired] is the man who finds [skilful and godly] wisdom, and the man who gains understanding and insight.” True wisdom, gained through seeking God’s Word and experiences, brings joy and fulfilment. It enables us to navigate life’s challenges with clarity and purpose, leading us in God’s ways.

Do Not Fear; God Is with You
Proverbs 3:25-26 reassures us, “Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the storm of the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, firm and strong, and will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.” God’s presence dispels fear, providing us with the strength and confidence to face life’s uncertainties. With Him by our side, we can walk through challenges without fear of being ensnared.
“If God was able to bring you here, then He is able to take you there; just keep on trusting in Him.” — Dr. Lucas D. Shallua. This reminder encourages us to place our unwavering trust in God, who guides and provides for us through every season of life. By fully depending on Him, seeking His voice, and embracing His wisdom, we can navigate our journeys with faith and assurance.
