8 May 2022 – Thus far the Lord has helped us

1 Samuel 7:12 (NKJV) Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

The words “thus far” are pointing in the direction of the past. “Thus far has the Lord helped!” Whether through poverty, wealth, sickness, health, difficulties, joy, trials, triumph, prayer, or temptation – “Thus far has the Lord helped”!

The things that we should never forget what God has done:
Psalm 78:7 (MEV)” that they might set their hope in God and not forget the works of God.

Psalm 103:2-5 ESV Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

God is not only the God of the past, but also the God of today and tomorrow. Thus far the Lord has helped us, but He is also the God that will provide today and tomorrow.

Genesis 22:14: “So Abraham called that place ‘The Lord will provide’ (Jehovah-Jireh); as it is said to this day, ‘On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’”

Jehovah-Jireh: a designation of God’s provision promised for the future. These point forward. There are still more trials, joys, temptations, battles, defeats, victories, prayers, answers, toils, and strength yet to come, but in all of these “The Lord will provide”.

Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Matthew 28:20 “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

You may look at the stories of men and women in the Bible and think, “I don’t know if that could ever happen for me in this day in which I am living.” The work of God isn’t limited to one particular time in history.

The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8 (NLT) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”

God is not limited by your circumstances. He is limited by your unbelief.

Whatever your situation may be today, look at it and declare “The Lord will Provide”

Have a great day
