9 April 2021 – Do not put your trust in people

People and things will always let us down. In Psalm 33:16-17 we notice that the best-equipped army and warhorses, are declared a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength, it cannot save.

Psalm 33:16 The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. 17 Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you.

God wants us to trust in Him. In Ps 33:18-20 we learn that God will take care of us in difficult times.
Psalm 33:18 But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. 19 He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. 20 We put our hope in the Lord.

Psalm 42:5 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 146:3-5 (KJV) 3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God”

Psalm 118:8 (NKJV) “It is better to trust in the Lord, Than to put confidence in man.”

Jeremiah 17:5 (ESV) Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.

Isaiah 31:1-3 (NLT) “What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. 2 In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers. 3 For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the Lord raises his fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together. Throughout the Bible, God proves His faithfulness to His people by leading them safely through or delivering them from all their troubles. He will never leave or forsake you; His plans are to prosper, not to harm you.

Proverbs 28:26 (NKJV) “Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe. God is forever and His character never changes unlike man.”

Have a great day.
