Calvary is where our Jesus was crucified.
Luke 23:33 (NKJV) “And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.”
The cross is the centre of the world’s history; the incarnation of Christ and the crucifixion of Jesus are the pivot around which all the events of the ages revolve.
Calvary is where we are reminded of his sacrifice and the depth of his love. Calvary is where we have our death in Christ.
Romans 6:3-5 (NLT) “Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. 5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.”
Calvary is where we die daily
1 Corinthians 15:31 (NKJV) “I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.”
When we are crucified with Christ then Christ lives his life in us.
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
We really get to know Jesus on Calvary
Philippians 3:8-11 (NLT) “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!”
While we experience fellowship with his sufferings, we also see the power of his resurrection.
Have a mountain top experience with Jesus today.
