9 August 2023 – God reveals Himself through the Holy Spirit

Throughout the Scriptures, God reveals Himself through the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:10(AMP) For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding].

We come to know the things of God by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit opens the eyes of our hearts to perceive His word, and this word brings understanding to our minds. This spirit-revealed understanding is called revelation!

2 Peter 1:20-21(AMP) But understand this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of or comes from one’s own [personal or special] interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

After the death of Jesus, the Holy Spirit would come as the revealed word of God.

John 16:13-15(AMP) But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father – the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future]. He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Because of this I said that He [the Spirit] will take from what is Mine and will reveal it to you.

The Holy Spirit speaks guidance and direction to us. Galatians 5:16(NLT) So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

We are able to understand the Scriptures because the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10(ESV) But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” – these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”

1 Corinthians 2:12(ESV) Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.

The Holy Spirit speaks to us, assuring us of our salvation in Christ and of our right standing with the Lord God. Romans 8:16(ESV) The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

The Holy Spirit reveals things to us – 1 Corinthians 2:10-12(NLT) But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

The Holy Spirit will teach us everything and remind us of everything Jesus has said. John 14:26(ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

I conclude today with this prayer in Ephesians 1:17-19(AMP) [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength.
