Joel 2:32 (NLT) But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved, for some on Mount Zion in Jerusalem will escape, just as the LORD has said. These will be among the survivors whom the LORD has called.
Deliverance is defined as a rescue from bondage or danger. Deliverance in the Bible is the acts of God whereby He rescues His people. Deliverance focuses primarily on God’s rescue of those in trouble or danger. He rescues His people from their enemies and the hand of the wicked. He preserves them from famine and death.
In the New Testament, God is always the subject and His people always the object of deliverance. While believers are delivered once for all time from eternal punishment, we are also delivered from the trials of this life.
2 Peter 2:9 (ESV) then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,
1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV) No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
James 1:2–4 (ESV) Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Psalm 68:20 (BSB) Our God is a God of deliverance; the Lord GOD is our rescuer from death.
Psalm 40:1-3 (NIV) I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
God is inclined to you and hears your cry. All deliverance comes from believing it. You must put your faith in God. He brings you out of the pit. Whatever it is you are ensnared by, it is God who will deliver you. Let God lift you up. He will set your feet upon a rock. Stop being shaky and uncertain about your future. Let God set you firmly upon His good word and stand strong. Your future is determined by what is presently under your feet, a solid rock. God will order your steps. You have a future in Him. Start walking toward your new season full of blessing and hope. Remember, God will restore to you double for your trouble, but it will only be found in the new fields ahead of you. God will put a new song in your mouth.
I conclude with, “God wants you to be delivered from what you have done and from what has been done to you – Both are equally important to Him.” ― Joyce Meyer
