1 Timothy 6:12 (NLT) Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.
Eternal life starts now – John 5:24 (ESV) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
In other words, eternal life is not something you wait for after death. It is something you have now if you believe in Jesus.
Eternal life is not interrupted at death – John 11:25–26 (ESV) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Everyone who has eternal life by faith will never have that life stripped away from them; even if they die, they will live. Physical death will not turn eternal life into temporary life.
2 Corinthians 5:8 (NLT) Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:54b-57 (NLT) “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternal life will last forever and ever. The Greek word translated as everlasting means perpetual, eternal, forever. Perhaps the word perpetual best explains the biblical concept of everlasting life; it is life that, once begun, continues perpetually into eternity. This speaks to the idea that man’s life is not merely physical. Rather, the true life of human beings is spiritual, and while the physical life ends, the spiritual continues throughout eternity. It is perpetual. It is everlasting life.
Your final destination is in your hands – Romans 10:9-10 (NLT) “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”
When you confess with your mouth, you humble yourself before God. To confess means to acknowledge one’s acts or thoughts; to confess wrongdoing. Confession is a change of mind and heart that results in turning away from evil and looking to God for forgiveness.
To be saved today, pray this prayer: “Heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe in my heart Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe you sent Him to this Earth to die for my sins. I accept the sacrifice He made on the cross in my place, and I rejoice that He rose again. Jesus, I confess You are my Lord. By faith in You, I am saved today. Thank you, Father, for saving me through Jesus! Amen.”
