*God is great!*
Psalm 70:4(NLT) But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!”
It’s easy to say: ‘The Lord is great,’ when things are going well. But what about when we’re longing for God’s saving help? At such times do we always say: ‘The Lord is great’?
Regardless of what God does for us, He is still worthy to be praised. The verse explains that we are to seek God, rejoice and be glad in Him. Again, this joy is dependent on us knowing Him. It is not based on our current situation.
In the midst of this restlessness and disorder, God’s Word is telling us to rejoice greatly and be glad.
Habakkuk 3:17-18(NLT) Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
Psalm 149:5(NLT) Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.
Psalm 86:8-10(NLT) No pagan god is like you, O Lord. None can do what you do! All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God.
Scripture repeatedly tells us that God is great. Deuteronomy 32:3(NLT) I will proclaim the name of the LORD; how glorious is our God!
God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.
Psalm 107:1(NLT) Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
God is so great that He cannot be compared with anything or anyone else. No one else is great like God. Our response to God’s greatness should be praise, Psalms 150:2(ESV) Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
