Isaiah 54:1(NLT) “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the LORD.
Psalm 37:4-5(AMP) Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; Trust in Him also and He will do it.
Isaiah 61:7(NKJV) Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
Zechariah 9:12(NLT) Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles.
The barren woman is a picture of someone who has not seen results, signs of healing in her body or signs of abundance in her situation. Being barren is not God’s will for you. The Word says that God never meant for us to be barren. In Isaiah 54, God is saying: “Sing now, and prepare for your blessing! Enlarge your tent, prepare for growth! Do not spare. Expand your territory and your descendants will inherit the nations.”
Let me assure you, God’s hand is not shortened, and nothing is impossible for Him. It was the will of God that Sarah be a mother of many, and in God’s time, God blessed Abraham and Sarah with a son. In Genesis 21:1(NIV) we read, “Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised.” The Lord visited Sarah and she became pregnant; she gave birth to a son and named him Isaac, which means laughter. In verse 6 we read, Sarah says: “God has brought me laughter.” Through Isaac and his descendants, Sarah became the mother of many.
If God could bring Sarah laughter through granting her a child, He can do the same for you. The words: Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, is God’s promise for you.
What is God’s first instruction to the barren? Simply to start SINGING … yes … break forth into singing and cry aloud. If you are cast down in spirit, God says start singing; break forth and cry aloud.
In 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 we have this same theme demonstrated by a man known as Jabez. Jabez means sorrowful and also height. Jabez was an honourable man, but sorrowful – barren in his experience with God. He was not enjoying the blessings of God, nor was he satisfied with his present position. So, he began to call upon God. He prayed: Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and ENLARGE MY COAST, and Your hand might be with me and that you would keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!
1 Chronicles 4:9-10(NLT) There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.
If Jabez was enjoying the blessing of God he would not have needed to pray for it, would he? He prayed for God to MAKE HIM A BIGGER MAN! Please note God’s answer to his prayer: He granted him that which he requested.
Jabez saw his need to be more effective for God. And as soon as Jabez meant business with God and began to pray for a better experience and bigger things, God began to move with him. Jabez experienced both meanings of his name – he was changed from a sorrowful man to one of greater heights in his God.
