Do you want to stand out? Part 2

Part 2

Mat 23:11  “Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. (MSG)

God has made you to live forever

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)  God has . . . planted eternity in the human heart.

The reason for creation

Romans 11:36 (LB)  Everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory.

Proverbs 16:4 (NLT)  The Lord has made everything for his own purposes.

The reason for creation

All has been created for God’s glory.  The goal of the creation is to show the glory of God. It is the reason for everything that exists, including you. God made all for his glory. Without God’s glory, there would be nothing.

What is glory?

It is who God is.   it’s a spiritual tsunami of everything contained in the character of God.  The word glory is literally translated “heavy weight,” meaning the heaviest, biggest, grandest thing about someone.   It has been called the manifested presence of God, but more than just a presence, it’s power.  The kind of power that resurrects, delivers, overcomes and transforms. It is greater and stronger than any other power in existence.

Where is the glory of God?

Everything created by God reflects his glory in some way. We see it everywhere.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV).“The heavens declare the glory of God.”

In heaven, God’s glory provides all the light needed.

Revelation 21:23 (NIV). “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light.”

God’s glory is best seen in Jesus Christ.

John 1:14 (GWT) “The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory … a glory full of grace and truth.”

Walk in Glory

We are commanded to recognize his glory, honour his glory, declare his glory, praise his glory, reflect his glory, and live for his glory. Why? Because God deserves it! We owe him every honour we can possibly give. Since God made all things, he deserves all the glory.

Rev 4:11 (NLT)“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honour and power. For you created everything.”

2 Corinthians 3:18, NKJV “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

How Can I Bring Glory to God?

 11. John 17:4 (NLT) “I brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything you told me to do.”

Jesus honoured God by fulfilling his purpose on earth.  We honour God the same way.  When anything in creation fulfils its purpose, it brings glory to God. God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him. Worship is far more than praising, singing, and praying to God.

Worship is a lifestyle of enjoying God, loving him, and giving ourselves to be used for his purposes. When you use your life for God’s glory, everything you do can become an act of worship.

Romans 6:13b (NLT).“Use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God.”

Rom 6:13  (AOV)Stel julleself tot beskikking van God as mense wat uit die dode lewend geword het, en julle lede as werktuie van geregtigheid in die diens van God.

1. We bring God glory by loving other believers.

Romans 15:7 (NLT).  “Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified.

Joh 13:34 (OVT) ‘n Nuwe gebod gee Ek julle, dat julle mekaar moet liefhê; soos Ek julle liefgehad het, moet julle ook mekaar liefhê.  Joh 13:35 (OVT) Hieraan sal almal weet dat julle my dissipels is, as julle liefde onder mekaar het.

2. We bring God glory by becoming like Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT).  “As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.”

Philippians 1:11 (NLT); “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—those good things that are produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”

3. We bring God glory by serving others with our gifts

We bring God glory by serving others with our gifts.  The way you’re “wired” is not an accident. God gave you your abilities to benefit others, just as others were given abilities for your benefit.

According to the Grace:

Grace expresses itself in you as an enabling, an empowering, a special endowment given by God to perform a special task. And it is by this grace that you are called to attempt great things for His glory. This grace can also be termed as talent or a special gifting. You are uniquely gifted by God.

According to the Anointing:

Luke 4:18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach good news”.

Jes 10:27  En in dié dag sal sy las afgly van jou skouer en sy juk van jou nek, en die juk sal tot niet raak vanweë die vettigheid.

gift of the Holy Spirit to minister to the body of Christ as taught in I Corinthians 12 is charisma in the Greek text.  By contrast, the word “anointing” in the New Testament is chrisma in the Greek

According to the Anointing:

  • 1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
  • 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

4. We bring God glory by telling others about him.

2 Corinthians 4:15 (NLT).  “As God’s grace brings more and more people to Christ,… God will receive more and more glory.

It is all about Him

Romans 11:36 (LB) “For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory.”
