How does the God of the mountain look like?

  1. The Promise of God

Mt. Ararat is the first mountain mentioned in scripture. It is the mountain where Noah’s ark landed and Noah saw the rainbow of God’s promise. This reminds us that God cannot lie and will keep his promises.

It is the mountain where Noah’s ark landed and Noah saw the rainbow of God’s promise. This reminds us that God cannot lie and will keep his promises.

Genesis 9:13 (ESV) “I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

Genesis 9:14–16 (ESV) “When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

God says the rainbow will be a reminder for Himself to remember His covenant

  • God is a promise keeper

Psalm 145:13b (NIV) “The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.”

Joshua 21:45 NIV “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”

Deuteronomy 7:9 (GWT) “Keep in mind that the LORD your God is [the only] God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commands.”

2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT) For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.

2 Peter 3:9 (Voice) “Now the Lord is not slow about enacting His promise—slow is how some people want to characterize it—no, He is not slow but patient and merciful to you, not wanting anyone to be destroyed, but wanting everyone to turn away from following his own path and to turn toward God’s.”

God does what He says He will do. His faithfulness to you surpasses your valleys. Don’t doubt that His plans for you will be accomplished! Don’t let uncertainty take your faith away. When we believe God’s promises are true, we can maintain our hope during difficult times.

God assured the prophet Habakkuk that His promises would come to pass at the appointed time.

Habakkuk 2:3 (LB) “But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!”

God is never late. He is the Lord, and He will always do things perfectly in His timing; thus, it’s up to us to change our wrong perceptions about Him.

So what is our part in this waiting process? Our part is simply to believe and trust in God. Let us grow strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully persuaded that what He has promised, He is also able to perform.”

Romans 4:20-21 (NLT) “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”

  • God makes promises. Who are we that God would promise us anything? Yet, out of His love for us, He established many promises that are not hidden or secret.

Numbers 23:19a, NIV “God is not a human that He would lie …”

  • The Promise Keeper is in your boat

4a. When the evening come

Mark 4:35 (MEV) “That same day, when the evening came” – The evening came, referring to the darkness is on its way.

Mark 1:32 (MEV) “In the evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were possessed with demons.”

Jesus specialises is best at work in our difficulties.  I

2 Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.

4b. The Promise

Mark 4:35 (MEV) That same day, when the evening came, He said to them, “Let us go cross to the other side.”

When the evening came, Let us cross to the other side.  When night comes, the promise is the we need to cross to the other side.

You cannot stay where you are, you have to cross to the other side.

4c.  The promise keeper is in the boat

Mark 4:36 (MEV) “When they had sent the crowd away, they took Him in the boat just as He was. There were also other little boats with Him.”

4d. The presence of Jesus did not stop the storm

Mark 4:37 (MEV) “A great wind storm arose, and the waves splashed into the boat, so that it was now filling the boat.”

The fact that the presence of God is in that boat did not prevent the disciples from having problems. Just because you are on the Lord’s side does not mean that God is going to keep every problem away from you.

Psalm 34:6 (GNT) “The helpless call to him, and he answers; he saves them from all their troubles.”

4e. Sleeping on the pillow of the promise

Mark 4:38 (MEV) “He was in the stern asleep on a pillow. They woke Him and said, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Jesus was sleeping on the promise of “Let’s go to the other side” The promise is always stronger than the storm. Jesus slept on the pillow of the promise.

A pillow means God is turning a tough problem into something beneficial to you, thus it is time for the promise to kick in.

The first time a pillow is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis just before Jacob sees a ladder to heaven with angels going up or down. It was a stone on which he had put his head to get some sleep.

This has a very significant meaning if you look closer. Jacob used a stone as a pillow. This is a sign of turning a problem (the hard stone) into something of comfort.

2 Peter 1:4 “By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises…”

  • The promises of God

Jeremiah 32:17 (AMP) “Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too difficult or too wonderful for You”

Jeremiah 32:27 (AMP) “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there anything too difficult for Me?”

Phil. 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
