EXODUS 33:11-17
Proposition: God’s Presence distinguishes from all the other people,
- When the Israelites left Egypt God’s presence was clearly evident with them.
- God’s presence was symbolized/depicted by the Pillar of cloud by day and by Pillar of fire by night.
EXODUS 13:21
- The pillar of cloud and fire did not leave them. EXODUS 13:21.
- After they rebelled and disobeyed God, He threatened to withdraw His presence from them. EXODUS 32:10.
- This message comes from the intercessory prayer of Moses to God on behalf of Israel. EZEKIEL 22:30.
( EXODUS 32:31-32).(JAMES 5:15).
- The Lord God promised Moses that He was going to send an Angel to go with them to the promise land. (EXODUS 33:2-3)
- Moses had human company/ great Presence and company (EXODUS 33:11-13)
- Moses had a great company of people around him- Joshua, Aaron, Hur and the Levites were there.
- Moses was not satisfied with the crowds around him- He needed God himself. VERSE 12
- VERSE 12 It is great to be in the company of Angels, BUT Moses refuses God’s offer to send an Angel to accompany them- Angel Leadership
- He wanted Yahweh himself- God to in their company.
- Moses was not asking God for human assistance.
- He had his assistants Joshua, Aaron and Hur the Elders and Levites.
- Moses reminded God that he called him by name when He gave him the Leadership of his people.
- Moses and the burning bush-EXODUS 3 :4-5
- VERSE 13 Show me your ways.
- After the establishment of God’s favour upon Moses- He ask God to show him His ways.
- The Hebrew word for ways is “Derek”-path’, journey or way.
- God made known his ways (derek) to Moses and his deed to the people of Israel.
Psalm 103:7, PSALM 25:4.
- Later Apostle Paul made the statement related to Moses’ plea to God.
- “I want to know Christ and power of his resurrection” PHILLIPIANS 3:10.
- The Lord Jesus promised to be with us until the end of the age. MATTHEW 28:20.
- His presence makes a difference/ brings difference VERSE 14-15.
- The almighty God yields to Moses’s plea.
- Not only will the Lord’s presence be with them but He will go with them.
- The Lord Jesus gave the disciples command to go and preach the Gospel Mark 16:15
- The Disciples of Jesus went out and the Lord was with them confirming by signs and wonders.
Mark 16:20/Matthew 28:20.
- The Lord made this assurance to alleviate Moses anxiety- Making it possible for Moses and Israel to relax- rest in his presence
VERSE 15” If your presence doesn’t go with me, don’t carry us from here’.
- Moses utterance here symbolizes that he was severely disturbed of the Lord abandoning them.
- He seeks confirmation and reassurance from God- your presence.
3.We are known/distinguished God by presence
Exodus 33:16
- His presence is the clear reassurance that is pleased and have favour upon his people.
- Moses reminds God about the covenant relationship with his people (GENESIS 12:3)
- All the families of the earth will be blessed:
- If God abondance us all will come to naught
“To set the world aright-Yahweh must honour his covenant possible”.
- He met with God ; FACE TO FACE” /EXODUS 33:11).

- The Lord come in a cloud stood with Moses, and spoke to him personally.
