Part 4 – Is hell real? How can a loving God send anyone to hell?

Patrick J van Rensburg

God is a just God

God will never give an un-just judgement to anyone.  God has never created hell for people.  God created hell for Satan.  God send his son to earth providing everyone the opportunity to go to heaven.

Joh 3:16  For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.  Joh 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior.  Joh 3:18  Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God’s only Son.

Every Person knows that there is a God.

Every person has a conscious.  This conscious came from God.  This is God’s eyes in us.  God’s creation testifies of him and God reveals him to every person.  Did anyone before excepting Christ ever had a hunger to know God better?

No-one would ever be able to say nobody told me about God, because God would say, I told you. Every Person knows that there is a God.  God would say to many people that I have placed a hunger in your hart for me, but you turned away from me.   Since the beginning of time, God has testified of Himself to every person so that no person has an excuse for an unrighteous life.

You cannot look up at the sky at night and not wonder at some point in your life if there’s a God. You can’t. God’s creation testifies of Him, and God reveals Himself to every person.  So no person will ever receive an unjust judgment from a just God. No person.  Every Person who seeks God will find God.

Pro 8:17  I love those who love me; whoever looks for me can find me.

Jer 29:13  You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.

Every Person who seeks God will find God.

Mat 7:7  “Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.  Mat 7:8  For everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who seeks will find, and the door will be opened to those who knock.  Mat 7:9  Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks for bread?  Mat 7:10  Or would you give him a snake when he asks for a fish?  Mat 7:11  As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Act 17:26  And he has made of one blood all the nations of men living on all the face of the earth, ordering their times and the limits of their lands,  Act 17:27  So that they might make search for God, in order, if possible, to get knowledge of him and make discovery of him, though he is not far from every one of us:  Act 17:28  For in him we have life and motion and existence; as certain of your verse writers have said, For we are his offspring.

God is a loving God

God did not create hell for people.  He send his son to the earth so that no one will go to hell.  Jesus came to for all.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways.

Just because God is loving, does not mean that he loves everything—there are some things that God doesn’t love, that in fact he hates. So he doesn’t love murder, or abuse, or selfishness, or pride.  If he is loving, then he will hate these things.  It wouldn’t be very loving of God to look at something like child abuse and say: “Well, I’m not really that bothered.”

Because this loving God hates bad things, he does something about it.

And this is good news. We all have a kind of a sense of justice—so it’s good news that people who mistreat others are not allowed into God’s perfect kingdom, but are shut out—that is, they’re sent to hell.

The inexcusable rebelling of Satan in Heaven

Isa 14:12  How great is your fall from heaven, O shining one, son of the morning! How are you cut down to the earth, low among the dead bodies! Isa 14:13  For you said in your heart, I will go up to heaven, I will make my seat higher than the stars of God; I will take my place on the mountain of the meeting-place of the gods, in the inmost parts of the north.  Isa 14:14  I will go higher than the clouds; I will be like the Most High.  Isa 14:15  But you will come down to the underworld, even to its inmost parts.

Lucifer was the worship leader in Heaven, and he was so beautiful and so persuasive he convinced a third of the angels to rebel against God.  They had not bad experience.  God never did something that could hurt of unsatisfied then but they rebelled against God. Satan was throng out of heaven to the darkest under world and hell was created.

Mat 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

Have you ever been rejected?  It is one of the greatest hurt that anyone can experience.   It is something that God also experienced when Satan turned against God.  After Satan rejected God, God creates man.  He creates man in his own image.  It means that man has a will and choice.  There was not sin or rebellion in the world, it was a perfect environment.  God created them in a perfect environment.  They had perfect marriage, perfect health, perfect bodies, perfect love, perfect hearts, perfect conversation, everything perfect.

The inexcusable, the inexcusable rejection, rebellious rejection of a perfect, loving God. Adam and Eve rejected Him

Why would anyone reject God?

God created you with a free will.  The greatest gift God ever gave you in creation, obviously the greatest gift God ever gave is Jesus Christ, but the greatest gift God ever gave mankind in creation was the free will.  He gave you a choice. You have a choice Would God send someone to Hell? No, He wouldn’t, but people send themselves to Hell all the time.  People do it all the time.  You have a choice, you need to understand that.  Your eternal destination is made by you, not God. God a just God, He’s a loving God. It’s your choice, it’s your choice where you spend eternity. You have a free will.

Isa 5:1 Now let me sing to my Well-beloved.  A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard: My Well-beloved has a vineyard On a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, But it brought forth wild grapes.

Now let me sing to my well-beloved”.  The well-beloved is Jesus. “A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard”. Vineyard are people. My well-beloved has a vineyard on a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared out its stones”. “And He planted it with the choicest vine”.

Remember, Jesus said “I am the vine, you are the branches”. “He built a tower in its midst, and He also made a winepress in it”.

Tower referring to the pulpit or the church, and the winepress referring to the Holy Spirit.  “So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes. And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, please, between Me and My vineyard.  What more could have been done to My vineyard that I have not done in it?  Why then when I expected it to bring forth good grapes did it bring forth wild grapes”?

Isa 5:14  Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Hell was not created for people.

It was created for the devil and his angel – Matthew 25:41.

“I planted this vineyard, I gave it every opportunity to succeed, but men chose sin instead of me, and because of that Hell has now enlarged”.

Hell was enlarged by necessity, not by design. Hell was enlarged because of an inexcusable rebellious rejection of God. The tough question is not how can a loving God send anyone to Hell.  The tough question is how can anyone reject a loving God? How could anyone, including you, because it’s your choice, reject a loving God? God created us in His image, and gave us all a free will.  Where you spend eternity is entirely your choice.

Choose Jesus Christ right now.  Choose Jesus as your choice. Choose eternal life in Heaven as your choice.

Repent:  Act 2:38  Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God’s gift, the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism:  Romans 6:3 Do  you not know that all of us who have been baptized pinto Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in the newness of life.  5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin.
