Part 4 –  War room Prayer  – Pray in this manner

War room Prayer

1. Quiet Your Mind

Psa 46:10  Be still, and know that I am God

Psa 37:7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.

2. Focus Your Mind – Worship

Psa 100:2  Serve the LORD cheerfully. Come into his presence with a joyful song.

3. Pray Your Mind

1 Pet 5:7 Cast all your burdens unto him, because he cares for you.

Php 4:6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

The Three Main Reasons for Prayer

  1. To acknowledge God and allow Him into our lives.
  2. To build a personal relationship with God.
  3. To exercise our spiritual authority. God will not do for us what He has given us the ability to do for ourselves.

Mat 18:18  Truly I say to you, Whatever things are fixed by you on earth will be fixed in heaven: and whatever you make free on earth will be made free in heaven.

Purpose of Prayer

  • We pray to acknowledge God and allow Him into our lives. Prayer recognizes our need for God’s lordship, guidance, and help. God only comes by invitation because we have a free will. God will never force himself on us. We pray to build a personal relationship with God. Prayer is also how we exercise our spiritual authority.  We are the army of God on this earth. We have authority to rule on this earth for the good of others, but this only happens when we partner with God through prayer. Prayer is surrendering to God’s authority and inviting His guidance into every area of our lives.

Pray in this manner

Mat 6:8  Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father know what things you have need of, before you ask him.  Mat 6:9  After this manner therefore pray you:

A. Thanksgiving, praise, and worship.

Mat 6:9b Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Mat 6:9b Onse Vader wat in die hemele is, laat u Naam geheilig word;

Honour God for who He is.

Honour the name of God

Recognise God as your Father.  I will not use your name in a bad way.  I will not use your name to curse.  I honour your name.  There is no name like your name.

Ps 9:10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

The Names of God

Who is God to you? El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty). El Elyon (The Most High God). Adonai (Lord, Master). Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah). Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner). Jehovah Raah (The Lord My Shepherd). Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals). Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There).

Mat 6:9b Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Mat 6:9b  Onse Vader wat in die hemele is, laat u Naam geheilig word

Hallowed be thy name

Sanctify me- To sanctify someone or something is to set that person or thing apart for the use intended by its designer.

Sanctify, therefore, becomes a synonym for “trust and obey”

Thank God for what he has done for you. Praise and worship him

B. Surrendering to God’s authority and inviting His guidance into every area of our lives.

Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.

Mat 6:10  laat u koninkryk kom; laat u wil geskied, soos in die hemel net so ook op die aarde;

Inviting God’s guidance into every area of our life.  Let your kingdom come and your will be done.

Lord I invite your rule over my life.  I want your will to be done in my life.  Anything that is not according to your will I lay down.  I want you to guide me.  If there is anything, I am not doing that I should be doing show me that I might do it.

C. Seeking God’s provision.

Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Mat 6:11  gee ons vandag ons daaglikse brood;

After we have submitted our will to God, we ask God to provide in our daily need.

Pray for wisdom.  Make sure that you are in God’s will whatever decision you make.  Ask God.

Pray for favour, opportunity, financial provision, promotion.  Whatever you need ask from God.

D. Seeking God’s forgiveness as we extend forgiveness to others.

Mat 6:12  And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Mat 6:12  en vergeef ons ons skulde, soos ons ook ons skuldenaars vergewe;

Seeking God’s forgiveness as we extend forgiveness to others.  Bring every issue before God.  Ask for God’s goodness in your life.  God’s goodness will bring forgiveness. Choose to walk into God’s grace.  Pray for your enemies –  No one can harm you if God is on your side. Make sure there is no bitterness in your hart.  Walk in Love

E. Asking for supernatural direction and protection.

Mat 6:13  And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one

Mat 6:13  en lei ons nie in versoeking nie, maar verlos ons van die Bose.

Ask God to lead you into his perfect path.  Ask Him for his protection in your life.  Pray for People God laid on your hart.

F. Acknowledgment of divine right.

Mat 6:13b : For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Mat 6:13b Want aan U behoort die koninkryk en die krag en die heerlikheid tot in ewigheid.

3 things we cannot allow us to have, for it belongs to God, Kingdom, Power and Glory. Thank God that He is the only Kingdom, and I will only serve his Kingdom. I will tap into His Power and Glory.

G. Declaration of faith in God.

Mat 6:13b : For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen

Mat 6:13b Want aan U behoort die koninkryk en die krag en die heerlikheid tot in ewigheid. Amen.

Amen – means yes let it be so.  It’s it going to happen because God loves me.  It is going to happen because He is going to answer my prayer, because He is a faithful God. It is a declaration of faith.

4. Renew Your Mind – Read the Bible

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path

5. Listen to Your Mind

Ps 45:1 My heart overflows with a pleasant theme.

Psa 45:1  Beautiful words fill my mind, as I compose this song for the king. Like the pen of a good writer my tongue is ready with a poem.

2Sa 23:2  The spirit of the LORD speaks through me; his message is on my lips.

6. Write your Mind

Hab 2:2b Write down clearly on tablets. Hab 2:3  Put it in writing

Write what you think is God’s will for you. Write what God has spoken to you through his word.

7.  Share your Mind

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Ask the Lord who you should encourage with the word that you have received today and do it.
